Water Quality Specialist

Position Functions:  This position performs skilled, technical, and engineering related work in association with the City’s storm water infrastructure system and implementation of the City’s Surface Water Management Plan, Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Plan, Natural Resources Study, and other water quality related studies, plans, and regulations.  This person works under the general guidance and direction of the Public Works Superintendent of Utilities.  They will coordinate activities with other Public Works/Engineering Department staff. 

This person will oversee work of Storm Water Technician and seasonal field employees.

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of related technical or college training in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Natural Resources, or Environmental Sciences with specialized training in storm water management and/or collection systems; Must include coursework or training in the use of AutoCAD software for mapping or information changes and updates.
  • Or; Two (2) years of related experience, or any combination of education and experience judged to be equivalent by the employer. 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
  • Erosion/Sediment Control Specialist - certified by MnDOT.

Water Quality Specialist Job Description

Paid On-Call Firefighter

The City of Faribault has an opening for Paid On-Call Firefighters within the Faribault Fire Department.  Applicants must submit a complete City application packet to be eligible for this position.  Application packets are available at www.faribault.org or at Faribault City Hall, 208 NW First Avenue, Faribault, MN  55021. Type: Part-time Paid On-Call

Wage:  $13.64 per hour/$18.77 after probationary period

Deadline: Monday, August 20 at 4:00 p.m.  (not postmarked)

Position Functions:  Primary responsibilities of this position are to protect life and property by performing firefighting activities, emergency aid and hazardous materials response, and fire prevention duties.  This position may also be required to maintain fire equipment, apparatus and facilities.  Paid on-call firefighters train to the same standards as full-time personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a current and valid Minnesota Driver’s license.
  • All paid on-call firefighters shall have a response requirement of 20 minutes with the time measured from their residence to the fire station.
  • All traffic regulations, including speed limits, must be adhered to.
  • Must pass physical ability test.
  • Must be able to abide by all grooming standards set forth in guidelines.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (These are not necessary to have to apply and the City will provide training):

  • First Responder certification
  • Current EMT certification
  • MNEMSRB certification
  • Completed coursework in Firefighter I
  • Completed coursework in Firefighter II
  • Associates degree in fire science or related field

Library Technician

Position Function:  Performs technical library work with a variety of para-professional library duties.  It provides library services to the City and a portion of the County.  Basic activities include the acquisition of materials, organization and circulation of materials, assistance in the use of materials, reference services, and maintenance of library resources.

Position Requirements:  High School education or equivalent.

Ability to deal effectively with the public.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of library practices, policies, and philosophy.

Ability to use a computer, Internet, email, mobile devices and emerging technologies.

Desired Qualifications:  Prefer a BA degree or combination of educating and experience in library support.

Thursday, 9 a.m. -1 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Starting Pay:  $10.00 - $11.50 per hour
