Aquatics Supervisor


The City of Faribault has an opening for a full-time Aquatics Supervisor in the Recreation Division.

This position is responsible for the general administration and development of aquatic programs for indoor and outdoor facilities for all residents of the Faribault area. This position will assist in the operation of the Community Centers.

Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in recreation or closely related field
Experience: Minimum of five years’ experience of aquatic operation knowledge with at least two years leading the aquatic operation function
Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Pool Operator or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
Current Water Safety/Lifeguard Instructor/Trainer certifications or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
Knowledge in operation of community centers.

Position Functions
This position performs semi-skilled work in the use of light to medium equipment in maintenance and construction work. Involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of equipment used in the construction and maintenance of parks and other municipal facilities; also includes physical labor.

Qualifications
DESIRED MINIMUM SKILLS & ABILITIES
Two years’ experience in the operation of a variety of irrigation and maintenance systems
Possession of a Minnesota class B With ability to obtain Class A (CDL) with tanker endorsement and air brakes.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Parks maintenance or turf maintenance experience
Pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain in 1 year
Tree experience with MN DNR Tree Inspector license or ability to obtain in 1 year
Certified Playground Safety Inspector or ability to obtain
Low Voltage experience

Skilled Welder
Operation of Chain saws

Water Sewer Operator I

Position Functions
This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of the municipal water distribution system, wastewater collection system, storm water system, public works facilities, equipment and associated appurtenances. This position works under the general supervision of the Public Works Water Foreperson/Utilities Superintendent, but makes independent judgments of considerable importance. This person must be able to respond to emergency calls within thirty minutes and work rotating weekend shifts.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school education.
2. Possession of a Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements for tanker.
3. Possess or able to obtain and maintain Minnesota Certification for Water Operator and Waste Water Collections Operator.
4. Must be able to respond to emergency calls within 30 minutes.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Vocational/technical education in Water and Waste Water Operations.
1. Two years’ experience in construction, maintenance, operation and repair of municipal water and wastewater systems.
2. Current Minnesota Certification for Water Operator (Class D) and Wastewater Collections Operator (Class SC-D).
3. Knowledge of Computer Data Entering

Position Functions
This position assists the Community & Economic Development Director in all activities focused on enhancing Faribault’s economic vitality. This position is responsible for developing and implementing economic development programs for the City with the goal of proactive business retention and attraction, quality job growth, tax base expansion, and marketing. This position requires frequent public contact with businesses, developers and real estate brokers, and other local and regional economic development partners.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Business, Economics, or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of economic development related experience required.
Economic development related experience shall include, but is not limited to, municipal economic development, commercial lending, commercial or industrial real estate development, business management, business assistance, public or private finance, or workforce development.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of community development, economic development, redevelopment and public finance;
Ability to accurately record and maintain records;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the business community members, employees, supervisors, other departments, officials and the public;
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
Proficiency in use of identified computer software.

Normal business/office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Position will require flexibility in future scheduling to include any hours at the employers’ discretion for appropriate coverage and efficiency. Evening and weekend meetings as necessary. Timely reporting to work with a minimum number of absences.
