    Do you love to sew or would you like to learn to sew? We need your help! Come to a Boomerang Bags Sewing Bee and help us create cloth tote bags for our community's Boomerang Bags initiative! Boomerang Bags is a grassroots, community-driven movement tackling plastic pollution at its source. Volunteers from all walks of life get together to make reusable ‘boomerang bags’ using recycled materials, as a means to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. Seamsters under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult sewing companion. No registration required. Come and sew!

  3. Uke Can Make Music--Open Ukulele Hours

    February 21, 2019, All Day @ Buckham Memorial Library

    This program is for all ages and is designed for people who want to learn more about playing a ukulele. The library has ukuleles on site to try out, and a person on staff who will teach you about the ukulele and how to learn how to play. You may also bring your own uke if you have one. We will go over the basics and show you additional resources for learning the ukulele. No experience necessary.

  6. Faribault Ukulele Network (F.U.N.) Jam Sessions

    February 28, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM @ Buckham Memorial Library

    F.U.N. jam sessions are for ukulele players 16 and older. Participants must bring a ukulele, a tuner, and music stand and must know how to play at least 5 ukulele chords to attend these jam sessions. An option for less experienced players is the Library's Open Uke Hours where ukuleles and instruction for all ages is available. Storytimes for 2019 begin on January 8 and continue through April 25. After a break, storytime will resume for the summer in June.

    Pizza & Pages is an informal book club for youth in grades 6-12. We meet monthly during the school year in the library’s Youth Activity Area to discuss books we’ve chosen to read from an assigned topic or genre. The February meeting will be on Monday, February 25 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the library's Youth Activity Area. To prepare, read any book with a love story. Any kind of love story will do - romantic, friendship, pets, family, etc. Come prepared to discuss your selection while we eat delicious cheese pizza. All future meeting dates and reading assignments will be announced in advance on the library’s website and Facebook page.
