    Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Wednesdays & Thursdays at 10:30am (30 minutes) In the Children’s Program Area Ages 0-6 with adult caregiver. Siblings and guests welcome. Join us at the library for stories, songs, and fun! Storytime encourages language development and fosters a love of books and a lifetime of learning. Parents and caregivers will also learn about early literacy and get tips on how to help their child become ready to read. No registration necessary.

    LittleBigRead is an informal program for school age youth that pairs older kids with younger kids for one-on-one reading time. Younger kids can read to or be read to by older kids or they can take turns reading a book together. This program is meant to be a fun and no-pressure way to build a passion for reading for the fun of it. It is not a tutoring program or homework help. Books will be chosen by the readers from the library's collection or favorites can be brought from home. LittleBigRead meets weekly on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted, on the youth side of the library. No registration is necessary.

    Youth in grades 3-6 are invited to join Miss Leah, MN GreenCorps member, as we play fun, active games with a water management theme. This program meets weekly on Wednesdays in June and July. Note: no program on July 5. Space is limited to 20 participants and pre-registration is required. Please register by commenting in this event or by calling the library at 507-334-2089. More information about MN GreenCorps: MN GreenCorps is a statewide Americorps program designed to place college graduates in city governments and nonprofit organizations to work on a wide variety of environmental sustainability and resilience projects. The City of Faribault is hosting Leah Weston as a GreenCorps service member who is focused on stormwater education and outreach projects during the spring and summer of 2017.

  1. Concerts in the Park - Owatonna Community Band

    July 20, 2017, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Central Park

    Owatonna has one of the region’s top community bands and the ensemble, formed in 1979, has been able to attract many area music teachers as players. The music it plays includes many of the top pieces in the concert band repertoire. The builders of Faribault’s historic Band Shell designed it specifically for this type of band. This Parks and Recreation Department event is sponsored by Cenneidigh, Inc.

  2. Concerts in the Park - Gold Star Band

    The Gold Star Band, a group of six Mankato-area musicians, loves playing classic and current country music. With nearly 200 years of band experience, the band consists of Brenda Kopischke and Lynda Kiesler on vocals, Howard Mock, Gary Pfeiffer and Frank Howard on guitar, and Brian Jentges on drums. Howard and Brian are members of the MN Music Hall of Fame—Howard with "Sandra Lee & The Velvets," and Brian with "The Shaw Band." This Parks and Recreation Department event is sponsored by Slinger Electric, Inc.
