    Do you love to sew or would you like to learn to sew? We need your help! Come to a Boomerang Bags Sewing Bee and help us create cloth tote bags for our community's Boomerang Bags initiative! Boomerang Bags is a grassroots, community-driven movement tackling plastic pollution at its source. Volunteers from all walks of life get together to make reusable ‘boomerang bags’ using recycled materials, as a means to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. Seamsters under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult sewing companion. No registration required. Come and sew!

  4. Faribault Ukulele Network (F.U.N.) Jam Sessions

    September 26, 2019, 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM @ Buckham Memorial Library

    F.U.N. jam sessions are for ukulele players 16 and older. Participants must bring a ukulele, a tuner, and music stand and must know how to play at least 5 ukulele chords to attend these jam sessions. An option for less experienced players is the Library's Open Uke Hours where ukuleles and instruction for all ages is available.     Book Buds is an informal “reading buddies” program that pairs younger kids with older kids for one-on-one reading time. Younger kids can read to or be read to by older kids or they can take turns sharing a book together. This program is meant to be a fun and no-pressure way for children to build a passion for reading for the fun of it. It is not a tutoring program. Books will be chosen by the readers from the library’s collection or favorites can also be brought from home.

  5. Books & Brownies Book Club (grades 2-5)

    September 23, 2019, 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM @ Youth Activity Area

    Books & Brownies is an informal book club for youth in grades 3-5. We meet monthly during the school year in the library’s Youth Activity Area to discuss books we’ve chosen to read from an assigned genre or topic. No registration necessary. The first meeting of the 2019-2020 school year will be Monday, September 23 from 4:30–5:15 in the Youth Activity Area at the library. We will discuss the books we read over the summer while enjoying delicious brownies. Future meeting dates and books will be announced in advance on the library’s website and Facebook page.
